If you’re like me and want to keep your IBM WebSphere Application Servers up to date with the latest patches, you might want to skip the installation of IFPH63778 for 8.5.5.26 version of WebSphere, or at least exercise caution before doing so.
After installing IFPH63778 on my WebSphere servers hosting HCL Connections Docs applications, Docs Proxy application was unable to communicate with the required application servers, effectively breaking my HCL Connections Docs deployment. I am unsure if the update breaks the Docs Proxy application itself or interferes with other Docs components. Therefore, I advise caution if you are considering IFPH63778 update.
Following the Installation of IFPH63778, the HCL Connections Docs features ceased to function and at the time of the error reproduction Docs Proxy application server generated the following error message in the SystemOut.log file:
000000b6 ConcordRespon W The response status code is 503, need check the status of application servers being routed to.
As far as I can tell, IFPH63778 does not address a security vulnerability. Therefore, it may not be a critical patch for your WebSphere Application Servers.
Hope this helps!
UPDATE
IFPH65161 interim fix supersedes IFPH63778. After installing IFPH65161, I couldn’t reproduce the issue that was observed after installing IFPH63778.
