While working on HCL Connections this week, I learned about a handy feature that is beneficial for any Connections power user trying to build engaging expiriences on mobile devices using Community Highlights pages.
This feature allows you to display the Community Highlights page in a desktop browser exactly as the HCL Connections Mobile application would display it. This significantly improves your workflow, as you don’t have to grab your mobile device, refresh the view, and check the mobile app every time you make a change.
To do this, simply open the HCL Connections Community containing the Highlights page you would like to display in “mobile view”. In the URL bar of your browser, locate the Connections Community ID. For example:
https://connections.domain.com/communities/service/html/communityoverview?communityUuid=443056da-3f51-41e7-88c1-daa74fded5b7#fullpageWidgetId=Wc1946507537d_4199_bc0a_bcbd27657adc
Copy the Community ID (UUID) shown in the URL and append it to the following:
https://connections.domain.com/xcc/mobile?page=<community id>
For the example above, the link would look like this:
https://connections.domain.com/xcc/mobile?page=443056da-3f51-41e7-88c1-daa74fded5b7
This will render the Highlights page of the community just as it appears in the mobile application.
